I have printed previously about Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) or Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) in my CITY Interval workout plan. What I didn?t really explain was how to determine what your RMR is.

What is BMR again?

Prior to I explain you how to calculate your RMR, first I will again point out what your resting metabolic rate is. Basal metabolic rate is the ?official? name of your resting metabolic rate. BMR?s definition is ?The amount of energy expended while at rest in a neutrally temperate environment in a post-absorptive state.?

What this means to a average person is how many calories your ass burns up after you have fasted for 12 hours.

The ?Post-Absorptive? state is the 12 hour part, since you eat every 2 to 3 hours (right?); and your body metabolizes different foods at a different rate, depending on what you?re doing. BMR is used as a standard of the amount of calories that you need in order to keep you healthy. For example, let?s say your BMR/RMR is 1800 calories. These 1800 calories are what you need for a proper functioning of all your vital organs such as your heart, liver, kidneys, skin, etc., etc.

How to calculate your BMR/RMR

Little girls first.

This is the formula women use to calculate their BMR/RMR

655 + (weight in kilograms x 9.6) + (height in centimeters x 1.8) – (age x 4.7)

So if you live in a country like America where we use pounds and inches to calculate weight and height instead of kilograms, here is a conversion method.

To convert kilograms to pounds.

1lb = .045kg or just divide your pounds by 2.2.

To convert inches to centimeters

1in = 2.54 or just multiply your inches by 2.5

A random example: Lets say you?re name is Ann and you are a 44 year old woman who weighs 138 pounds and is 5 foot 7 inches.

Weight: 138lbs / 2.2 = 62.72kg x 9.6 = 602.112

Height: 5?7? = 67 inches – 67 x 2.5 = 167.5 or 168cm (I authorize this .5cm)

Age: 44 x 4.7 = 206

(655 + 602.112 + 168) – 206 = 1219 calories (BMR/RMR)

For my boys, here is your formula:

66 + (weight in kilograms x 13.7) + (height in centimeters x 5) – (age x 6.8)

A totally random model: You?re name is Lloyd and you?re a 34 year old male who is 6?2 and 185 pounds.

Weight: 185lbs / 2.2 = 84kg

Height: 6?2 = 74 inches – 74 x 2.5 = 185cm

Age: 34 x 6.8 = 231

(66 + 1151 + 925) – 231 = 1911 calories (BMR/RMR)

Even simpler method:

An even more simplified (crude) version of calculating your BMR/RMR is to take your current weight and multiply it by 10.

So the same woman a 138 pounds her BMR/RMR would be 1380 calories

The same man at 185 pounds his BMR/RMR would be 1850 calories

How to calculate your daily activities calorie value.

Unless you?re just a total sluggish ass, you don?t usually sit around all day doing jack. Even if you are a Sofa potato, you do spend time walking to the refrigerator or cabinets looking for a beer or a bag of Doritos.

If you don?t even do that, you need to get your fat ass up and start moving. If you don?t know what to do, just go outside and start walking. Yeah people will laugh, point and gawk, but whatever, you?ll live to tell about it.

Doing half ass cardio

As a rule of thumb, if you do some half ass cardio, By half-ass I mean moderate, meaning your not really going for it, but you can?t have a conversation while doing it either. You will burn about 2/3?s your bodyweight in calories every 10 minutes. So that means that if you half ass a treadmill workout and you weigh 185 pounds you burn about 123 calories every 10 minutes.

So what does half-assed on a treadmill mean? Well that depends on how good of shape you are in or not in. For me, I?m in decent cardiovascular form so that would equate to about 7 miles per hour on a lifecycle at a 2.5 incline. That?s an ultra half-assed workout; I could probably do that speed for an hour or more if I really wanted.

Calculating your caloric need.

To Estimate what you need to support your level of activity (or non-activity) use the criteria outlined below.

? If you?re a couch potato and your idea of exercise is to have somebody give you a piggy-back ride to your minivan (cause walking is way overrated) then drive to a local Krispy Kreme donut shop, then add 20% to your BMR/RMR

? If you?re not a couch potato but not quite a gym rat, you sit in a cubicle everyday but workout 2 or 3 time per week then add 40% to your BMR/RMR

? If you?re a straight up sports club rat (a person who loves to workout) and do it several time per week then add 60% to your BMR/RMR

Notes: 1 pound of fat is the equivalent to approaching 3,500 calorie. If your goal is to lose weight, start working out and use the guide I just outlined then cut about 500 calories from that total.

Ann as an example:

So as an model we will use Ann as an example. Ann works in a cubicle but also works out 3 times per week. This would put her smack in the middle at +40% BMR. So her diet would include 1219 calories (using example #1) or 1380 (using example #2) + an additional 40%. If using example #1 that would be an bonus 484 calories or 552 additional calories if using example #2.

Warning: Don?t think that cutting more than 500 calories will give you better results; it won?t and will be a detriment to you losing weight.

Warning #2: Don?t go under 1300 calories per day, you need this much to keep yourself healthy.

I was told there is a cure for tinnitus?

The doctors told me there is no cure for tinnitus and I would have to live with it! How can anyone live with these awful ringing noises in their ears? Is there some treatment available somewhere?

There are many different therapies that have helped many people with “mental problems”, ranging from ADD/ADHD/Autism to depression, and even schizophrenia. Some (such as EEG Biofeedback (aka Neurofeedback (NFB)) or End Point Titration (EPT) or Hyperbaric (oxygen tanks), etc, that now have inexpensive alternates are not included. Google these “names” if info is desired on them.

1. The newest and certainly the least expensive “brain training” method is the Neuroliminal Training (NT) system. This has now been shown to be an excellent and inexpensive alternate to both the very expensive Neurofeedback (NFB) training, and Hyperbaric Oxygen. Results are very similar to Neurofeedback (both EEG and HEG BF). For a fraction of the cost of those, it offers an affordable and much better alternative to Ritalin and other dangerous drugs for mid and low income families who simply cannot afford Neurofeedback or Hyperbaric. 2. Allergens are almost always part of all “brain problems”, There’s a simple and free (except for some detective work) way to detect them. Even if you use the NT or NFB Training, this is a good idea! Check out Dr Bate’s FREE Caveman Diet and pulse test at: http://drbate.com/Ref/pulse.html

3. For the ADD to Autism continuum (as well as depression and schizophrenia), there is a good possibility that mercury used in infant or childhood vaccines (or other toxic minerals) may be the real underlying problem. These mineral toxins MUST be chelated out of the body. There are various old and new methods of doing this:

a. Vitamin C in large doses: This has two advantages; it’s relatively cheap, and it’s good for overall health. In my former practice, I used it with excellent success in many schizophrenia cases. In general, it is very safe, unless the patient has an allergy to corn (not that unusual). For smaller children, I would recommend 1 gram (1000 mg) at each meal per 40 pounds per child. Overdosing only causes diarrhea, and it might be necessary to work up to this amount if such occurs. If a corn allergy is suspected, then use Calcium Ascorbate, either in powder or pill form. I buy the cheapest form of Ascorbic acid from Cosco, but my wife (with corn allergy) has to use the Calcium Ascorbate.

b. Injecting chelating chemical: A therapy where a chelating drug (EDTA) is injected into a vein for an hour or so in a clinic office. This is also quite expensive. Not recommended.

c. Zeolite in liquid form: A newer method taken by mouth (and relatively expensive). This is actually a form of lava rock that is very porous, and this porosity attracts heavy metals (mercury, lead, copper, etc) binds to it, and carries it out via the urine/kidney pathway. The reports are excellent, but it’s marketed by a sort of MultiLevelMarketing (MLM) scheme that makes it more expensive. Base retail price is about $50, but if you become a distributor, it drops to $33 or so. You can get more details by Googling “zeolite”.

d. Glutathione Supplements: There’s a (new to me) supplement specifically designed to raise Glutathione levels in the body. Glutathione is a natural combination of amino acids that is a powerful anti-oxident with several other interesting features:

It’s a major part of the immune system often overlooked by scientists.

Glutathione detoxifies the body by taking poisons, including mercury and other toxic minerals out. (Similar to chelation, but most other toxins as well as minerals.)

It’s not absorbed well when taken as a direct supplement. This is important as there are many supplements that contain glutathione that are not generally effective.

Low levels of glutathione are found in all autistic children, as well as many other sick or toxic persons. These low levels do not allow excretion well. This explains why hair, blood, and urine tests of mercury (and other minerals) do not show accurately what is stored in the body.

4. There’s a company that advocates a special “Body Ecology Diet”, This has had good success with autism and virtually all other health issues. It includes many products designed to effectively make the human body work better and more efficiently. It includes some very good probiotics as well as others that help get rid of yeast overgrowth & the “Leaky Gut Syndrome”. Again, not cheap, but worth it, if it is affordable for your family. 5. What do digestive enzymes have to do with ADD/ADHD and autism? A “leaky” gut syndrome” produces more allergy/sensitivity, and enzymes with meals break down the food better lessening the need for the “leaky gut”. This has helped many ADD/ADHD as well as autistic persons.

a. There is a bulletin board sponsored by Kirkman Labs that has a forum on special digestive enzymes. Join at: enzymesandautism-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

b. Another company that has an excellent line of enzymes is New Beginnings. In addition to the enzymes, they have a lot of Gluten/Casein Free Nutritional Supplements, and a “purified source” of cholesterol (see below). Info and catalogs at http://nbnus.com

6. At the recent Orlando conference, I also learned that many autistics have low cholesterol, and supplementing with two egg yolks a day may improve many symptoms. This is certainly easy and cheap to try. If the person has an allergy to eggs (not uncommon) then a “purified” cholesterol may be obtained from the New Beginnings supplier above that is non allergenic.

7. For autistic (and ADD/ADHD) children, there’s a lot of evidence that a gluten free and dairy free diet can help considerably. Google gfcf for more info. (The Caveman Diet above includes this and many more of the commonly allergenic foods. Try it for a week or so, then switch to gfcf.)

8. The latest research also shows that supplementing with fish oil can dramatically improve the ADD-Autism set of problems. I use the salmon fish oil from Our Health Co-op (http://www.ourhealthcoop.com) This web based health food store is one of the best for both quality and pricing. (I have no financial interest in this company or Solgar, but I do buy several supplements from them.)

9. There’s a drug therapy called LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone). While it is a drug, it seems that in low doses, it can significantly decrease many disease problems (symptoms) in autism, HIV/Aids, cancers, etc. For more information http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org Some good results for autistics have been reported.

10. Another new nutritional “therapy” consists of supplemental glyconutrients. A company called Mannotech is marketing these by an MLM (which I hate), and they apparently are helping with some ADD-Autism symptoms. For more details on glyconutrients – a new found essential nutrient – check out both Mannotech and glyconutrients by googling them.

11. There’s also a therapy technique called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) that has also shown some good results with ADD/ADHD, depression, etc. This was put together by Gary Craig, and his website containing lots of free and almost free information may be found at http://www.emofree.com

12. Some have had good results with NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique). However, results are mixed, and Dr Nambudripad has been unhappy with many practitioners who do not follow her technique carefully. There is further information at http://www.naet.com/subscribers/index_ns.html

13. There’s a system similar to NAET called Bioset. There’s a book “Food Allergy Cure” by Dr. Ellen Cutler, which explains using Bioset to remove allergies. This can also be done at home as the book explains “How To”. Check your local library and see if they can order it for you, or you can probably get it from Amazon.com. Google Bioset.

14. Don’t forget a very important way to improve all mental “diseases”. Help to solve the “leaky gut syndrome” by cleaning out the gut (http://drbate.com/Ref/gut.html), and by supplementing with a good vitamin/mineral regimen (http://drbate.com/vitmin.html. This should be a first step.

15. Finally, one of the oldest, cheapest & effective “remedies” of all – magnesium! It’s been known for years as the “calming chemical”. In our culture we seldom get enough and this deficiency may worsen many mental problems. It’s safe as if you overdose, like vitamin C, you only get diarrhea!. Milk of Magnesia and Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphate) are two very old good products that are often overlooked today . For autistic and ADHD children in particular, try baths using Epsom Salts. It’s helped a lot of kids and adults. I prefer Magnesium Citrate daily for supplemental use. I get this from the Health Co-op mentioned above.

If the person has an allergy to eggs (not uncommon) then a “purified” cholesterol may be obtained from the New Beginnings supplier above that is non allergenic.

7. For autistic (and ADD/ADHD) children, there’s a lot of evidence that a gluten free and dairy free diet can help considerably. Google gfcf for more info. (The Caveman Diet above includes this and many more of the commonly allergenic foods. Try it for a week or so, then switch to gfcf.)

8. The latest research also shows that supplementing with fish oil can dramatically improve the ADD-Autism set of problems. I use the salmon fish oil from Our Health Co-op (http://www.ourhealthcoop.com) This web based health food store is one of the best for both quality and pricing. (I have no financial interest in this company or Solgar, but I do buy several supplements from them.)

9. There’s a drug therapy called LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone). While it is a drug, it seems that in low doses, it can significantly decrease many disease problems (symptoms) in autism, HIV/Aids, cancers, etc. For more information http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org Some good results for autistics have been reported.

10. Another new nutritional “therapy” consists of supplemental glyconutrients. A company called Mannotech is marketing these by an MLM (which I hate), and they apparently are helping with some ADD-Autism symptoms. For more details on glyconutrients – a new found essential nutrient – check out both Mannotech and glyconutrients by googling them.

11. There’s also a therapy technique called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) that has also shown some good results with ADD/ADHD, depression, etc. This was put together by Gary Craig, and his website containing lots of free and almost free information may be found at http://www.emofree.com

12. Some have had good results with NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique). However, results are mixed, and Dr Nambudripad has been unhappy with many practitioners who do not follow her technique carefully. There is further information at http://www.naet.com/subscribers/index_ns.html

13. There’s a system similar to NAET called Bioset. There’s a book “Food Allergy Cure” by Dr. Ellen Cutler, which explains using Bioset to remove allergies. This can also be done at home as the book explains “How To”. Check your local library and see if they can order it for you, or you can probably get it from Amazon.com. Google Bioset.

14. Don’t forget a very important way to improve all mental “diseases”. Help to solve the “leaky gut syndrome” by cleaning out the gut (http://drbate.com/Ref/gut.html), and by supplementing with a good vitamin/mineral regimen (http://drbate.com/vitmin.html. This should be a first step.

15. Finally, one of the oldest, cheapest & effective “remedies” of all – magnesium! It’s been known for years as the “calming chemical”. In our culture we seldom get enough and this deficiency may worsen many mental problems. It’s safe as if you overdose, like vitamin C, you only get diarrhea!. Milk of Magnesia and Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphate) are two very old good products that are often overlooked today . For autistic and ADHD children in particular, try baths using Epsom Salts. It’s helped a lot of kids and adults. I prefer Magnesium Citrate daily for supplemental use. I get this from the Health Co-op mentioned above.

I have been suffering from an annoying ringing in both my ears for over a year. I can't remember exactly how it started. I have it day and night and it makes me want to chop off my ears! I don't notice it too much during the day when there are other noises to concentrate on. However, trying to sleep is becoming a problem. I can't fall asleep without my fan on high. Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of my Tinnitus?!?!

Have you ever noticed how the buzzing, ringing hissing, cracking in your ear seems to be worse on some days and then not as bad on another day? Just take a moment now to think what you just ate? Did you have burger and fries or a few cups of strong coffee? My T. used to be worse after a Chinese take away! As you know there’s a lot of salt in one of those. Having a good diet is essential for managing the volume and frequency of the tinnitus noises you hear. As you read this article you’re going to discover 5 do’s and don’ts of the tinnitus diet.

DO…give your body premium fuel. Your body needs it to function properly. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and whole grains,beans, nuts olive oil, cheese, yogurt and eggs. Go organic if you can! These foods will be rich in vitamins and minerals and will boost your immune system.

DO NOT…eat junk foods. The are filled with empty calories. They are also very high in salt. Salt makes tinnitus symptoms worse by restricting the blood vessels, increasing blood pressure and reducing the blood flow to the ears, eyes and brain. When intake of salt is reduced, people report that tinnitus sounds are lessened. Most processed foods are also high in flavour enhancers such as Glutamate. Glutamate floods the neuroreceptors in the auditory pathway and excites them to a point where they fire continuously.

DO…make sure your tinnitus diet includes vitamin A, B1,6 and 12, C Iron and Zinc. Zinc is known to be particularly effective in reducing tinnitus noises. It can be found in oysters, lamb pumpkin seeds, eggs and beans. Include between 2 and 5 mg. of Manganese found in foods like bananas, celery, green leafy vegetables, beans and nuts.

DO NOT…take any mineral such as manganese in excess as this can be dangerous!

DO…include non-gluten grains such as millet, quinoa and amaranth. Wheat can cause inflammation of the inner ear and worsen tinnitus symptoms. Soy and soy products are a great source of anti-oxidants and help the body to produce vitamin B.

DO NOT…choose cows’ milk products, although your tinnitus diet should include a moderate amount of dairy products such a yogurt, milk, and cheese. Try to choose organic produce and opt for sheep or goats’ products.

DO…eat unsaturated fats from vegetables, nuts and fish. These are the fats that are necessary for life and should be included in your tinnitus diet. They lower undesirable cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure and reduce inflammation in the inner ear. Use olive oil as a cooking oil!

DO NOT…eat fried or fatty foods high in saturated fats as they raise blood pressure, a direct cause of tinnitus and increase blood level fats. This restricts oxygen and nutrients to the inner ear and hearing loss.

DO….eat food as close to its natural state as possible. The best tinnitus diet is the Mediterranean diet that is made up of whole, freshly prepared foods, fresh food and vegetables, whole grain breads, pasta unsaturated fats, beans and nuts. It’s no wonder that incidents of heart disease are so low in Mediterranean countries.

DO NOT…drink caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea and cola. Avoid alcohol. They increase tinnitus noise by creating unnatural highs and lows, which can increase anxiety, stress and depression in some people.

Sleeping With Tinnitus

One of the biggest challenges that I hear from Tinnitus (constant ringing in the ears) patients is their inability to get a good night’s sleep. I used to have this problem as well, so I am very familiar with how frustrating that is. Imagine what it might be like to sleep on a busy airport runway with jets taking off all around you. That’s what it’s like for me. For many people who suffer from this debilitating disease, they can be kept awake by constant hissing, roaring, pulsing, whooshing, chirping, whistling and even clicking sounds that interfere with their regular sleep patterns.

Unfortunately, the less sleep you get, the more your tinnitus will bother you. Why this is I’m not sure, except to know that if you’re tired it’s much harder to keep motivated and do the things you need to do to keep your mind off tinnitus. I do know, however, that it’s very important to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night in order to avoid what often feels like an increase in the tinnitus volume.

So, how do you get a good night’s sleep? That’s really a 2 part question because first you have to get to sleep and then you have to stay asleep. I can’t tell you the number of times that tinnitus would actually wake me up in the middle of the night. Once awake, it’s virtually impossible to get back to sleep. Many patients admit that their tinnitus is much worse after awaking from sleep and I definitely agree with this based on my own experience.

First, let’s talk about how to get to sleep. After experimenting for several years I came up with a formula that works for me and I truly believe it can work for you too. And, like David Letterman I call it; the top ten ways for tinnitus patients to fall asleep. But this is no joke!

Number Ten: Make sure you’re physically tired. This seems like such a simple thing but it can really help to be just absolutely fatigued when you hit the pillow.
Number Nine: Don’t watch TV before going to bed. It fills your mind with useless nonsense and more often than not, your mind will race with useless information as a result of the subject matter.
Number Eight: Don’t exercise right before bed. This will raise your adrenalin and give you energy. Energy is the last thing you want when trying to sleep.
Number Seven: Don’t eat after 8:00 pm. Avoid volume

Number Six: If you can, meditate before bed. It will help to relax you and rid your body of any stress it is carrying. Breathe Deeply. Most of us go through our lives taking short breaths. A deep breath is grounding.
Number Five: Learn to relax in bed as if it were a rewarding experience. Relax each part of your body as you focus on relaxing it. Start with the top of your head and work your mind down to the tip of your toes. Very often I would only get to my knees and I’d be asleep.
Number Four: Try not to habituate yourself to loud noise when you are falling asleep. Avoid leaving the TV and/or radio on. If you can, open the window and listen to nature. If you must listen to something, make it a natural environmentally friendly sound, so when it’s not there, you won’t miss it.
Number Three: Make sure the room is dark so your brain tells your body its time to rest.
Number Two: Don’t Think! I know that seems like an odd concept but the fact is, thinking is what keeps your mind active and that keeps you awake.
And, the Number One way to fall asleep is: If all else fails, make love!

When you make love, you are not thinking about your tinnitus and at the same time you are setting up your body to accept sleep. The magic in that is that you are NOT thinking! The mind is trained to think. Do you realize how little time you spend in your day not thinking? The trouble is that most people have never learned to not think. I saw an ad on television once for a large newspaper chain and their slogan was; Never Stop Thinking. This is utter nonsense. You need time away from thinking – especially if your thoughts are negative or stressful.

So, how do you stop thinking? If you’re familiar with meditation then you likely have a good idea how this works. It’s a simple concept but believe me it takes practice. The more you practice it the better you’ll get at it. I use this technique to cat nap during the day and it works every single time. And, here it is: Relax and let your mind wander. When your mind falls on a thought, don’t follow it. Don’t focus on that thought. Say to yourself, oh I just landed on a thought let my mind go back to wandering. Don’t fight it, just allow your mind to drift onto other thoughts. It’s when your mind lands on a thought and follows that thought through a series of mental movies that causes stress and ultimately keeps you awake. Like I said, it takes practice, but it can be done.

Now, how do you stay asleep? That’s an easy one. If you’re tired when you go to bed you have a high probability that you will stay asleep. If you happen to wake up because of a dream or a loud noise, simply go through the ten steps all over again. Have a good night’s sleep!

Tinnitus Solution – Discovering Your Tinnitus Cause

Tinnitus is an unpleasant experience people go through on a daily basis, but few know what actually causes their tinnitus. People tend to lose sight that tinnitus is actually a symptom rather than the actual ailment. There are many things that can cause tinnitus, giving a person the “ringing” effect in the ear.

Although ringing is a relative term, as many people have had many different sounds in their ears due to tinnitus. The key to discovering the cause of tinnitus is for the person to learn the various things that have been known to cause tinnitus.

Trauma caused by excessive loud noise is a common cause of tinnitus. If a person works in an environment with loud machinery or listen to music with the headphones blaring frequently, this can be the cause of their tinnitus. If trauma due to excessive noise is what is causing the tinnitus it is best for them to stay away from the loud noises as much as possible or wear earplugs to avoid the tinnitus from flaring up.

Ear wax that is built up in the ear canal can also cause tinnitus, though it is not as usual as the other causes. Ear infections, sinus infections, and fluid buildup are also a cause of tinnitus. If ear buildup or infections are the cause of a person’s tinnitus antibiotics or aspirin can alleviate the pain and get rid of the infection.

Aging is another common cause of tinnitus. As people get older, they tend to become more fragile and nerve endings get damaged much easier than for a younger person. Presbycusis is the condition that causes hearing loss as well as tinnitus as a person ages.

Medications such as anti depressants and pain relievers that are used on a daily basis have also been known to cause tinnitus. People experiencing tinnitus due to a medication they are taking should go over the problems with their doctor to find a solution.

Acoustic Neuroma is a benign tumor on the cranial nerve that can cause a certain amount of pressure on the inner ear that has been associated with causing tinnitus. The pressure then blocks the ear canal and crushes the nerve ending in the inner ear. When th

e nerve endings in the inner ear get damaged, it is impossible to reverse and is what causes the “ringing” in the ears for those with tinnitus.

Meniere’s disease is a disorder that affects the inner ear, although tinnitus can happen in all parts of the ear, it is mainly common to take place in the inner ear. With this disease the inner ears ability to balance out the fluids is compromised, thus causing hearing loss and tinnitus.

Tinnitus is an extremely uncomfortable problem many people face. Unfortunately there is no real cure. That is why it is vital for a person with tinnitus to visit their physician to discover what the cause of their tinnitus is. By establishing a cause it can be extremely helpful to keep the tinnitus from flaring up.

If you are suffering from the Tinnitus then you are not alone. Approximately one quarter of the worlds population suffer from the same condition. When you get that constant buzzing, ringing or swishing noises in your ear you are said to have Tinnitus. These noise levels can vary greatly from person to person and when the noise level is high, a person will get the feeling of being insane and loneliness. • One of the many symptoms for people with heart disorders and weak circulation is Tinnitus and noise in the ear.
• More than one half the people with an abnormal bone growth in the ear known as Otodclerosis will often experience noise in the ear.
• People with high blood cholesterol will often experience Tinnitus due to the reduction of oxygen supply to the nerves of inner ear as a result of clogged arteries.

When you suffer from Tinnitus, the ringing in your ears will sound louder when you are trying to get to sleep at night. This will make you tired during the day and add to both your stress and anxietylevels. Poor sleep habits will cause depression resulting in an elevation of your anxiety level and Tinnitus symptoms.

Sinus infection: The Four Way Treatment

In dealing with the infection doctor considers the following stages of treatment depending upon the severity of the problem. Diagnosis tells which among the four stages of treatment will be given to the sufferer.

The four treatments are as follows: Oral Antibiotics, Nebulized Antibiotics, IV Antibiotics and Sinus Surgery.

Oral Antibiotics

Oral antibiotics are one of the most prescribed treatments for chronic sinusitis patients. For this treatment, doctors prescribe a number of antibiotics that a patient takes on a daily basis for usually 2-3 weeks. Usually, this is given to a patient suffering a minor infection.

Nebulized Antibiotics

Nebulized antibiotics are a way of treating infections topically. A new treatment called SinuNEB aerosolizes the antibiotics so that you breathe the antibiotics in through your nose, getting directly to the source of the problem. This type of treatment usually lasts 2-3 weeks. This is commonly aid with nebulizer device.

IV Antibiotics

In select cases, a doctor may decide on an intravenous (IV) antibiotic therapy. For this treatment, antibiotics enter directly into the bloodstream through an injection. This type of therapy generally lasts 4-6 weeks. This is a more complex treatment compared to the first two given above. Injection from the bloodstreams allows a faster effect of the medicine given.

Sinus Surgery

Sinus surgery is generally a last resort for doctors encountering a patient with a severe infection. Definitely, the purpose of the surgery is to relieve the chronic sinusitis condition. Most surgeries are endoscopic surgeries, a new way of operating without making incisions on your face. The surgery is generally accomplished in 1-3 hours. It can take several weeks for a full recovery.

Undergoing in a different sinus treatment is not the last thing for you to do. It is important to visit your doctor oftentimes and take the prescribed medicines for the maintenance of your treatment.
